Samantha O’Neill - Senior Manager of Sphere Graduate Recruitment
Sam joined us in March 2014 and has grown our Graduate Recruitment team to 6, covering the digital, media and events landscape.
"Sam loves her two cats, Eddie and Jeff, and she likes to go to bed at about 8 o'clock every night but is very thoughtful and always remembers to text when something is going on in your life." - Jamie Cox
Sam, what’s the most important piece of advice you’d give to someone who wants to be successful in recruitment?
Join a company that feels like the right fit for you, make sure they offer great development, progression, and support, along with a great company culture making it a fun working environment every day.
Surround yourself with positive people. Be the best you can be and don’t look at what other people are doing. Look at what you want to achieve and set out to achieve it whilst supporting others, being kind and striving for the best.
"Sam joined Sphere as our 10th/11th recruit (on the same day as Jamie – it’s hotly contested who was the 10th and who was the 11th person)...
Originally starting on Ad tech sales, after six months we decided to launch Sphere Graduate Recruitment. It was a chat that lasted about 10 minutes. I said to Sam “Hey Sam, we are getting briefed on a few grad jobs and no one is focusing on them. With your background [in graduate recruitment before joining Sphere], I think you could make something by focusing on grads. Sam loved the idea ... so we decided to launch Sphere Graduate Recruitment. We picked the light blue shade from the Sphere rings as our brand colour and settled on the name Sphere Graduate Recruitment, created a logo and some new pages on the website and then Sam started (no pun intended) her Sphere Graduate Recruitment journey.
Fast forward five and half years and Sam has billed £1,000,000 (and a few pennies) with a deal this week at Havas. It’s been a truly incredible performance and Sam’s dedication and hard work and her perseverance (and competitive spirit!) have seen her fight her way to the top of the leader board ... all whilst expanding SGR" - Ed Steer, CEO & Founder
